RAK AND ROLL

Upon arrival!

 An eerie-looking RAK!

RAK Studios! What a little gem! Buried in the heart of St. John's Wood, this studio really does have a lot of history and soul to it! St. John's Wood is associated widely with The Beatles and Abbey Road (and rightly so!), but perhaps not so many people realise that Abbey Road Studios' neighbour RAK has a real legacy to it too in its own right!
What was once an old Victorian school was transformed into what we now know as RAK studios by the late Mickie Most in 1976. It is thought to be the only studio left in the UK to have original 70's API desks in studio rooms 1 and 2 - so pretty impressive! (Pictured below). Since then, RAK has shared studio time with an incredible bunch of artists such as Paul McCartney, The Who, Pink Floyd, Arctic Monkeys, Adele, Florence and The Machine and the list goes on...!

So, the reason we were in this amazing studio was to record my second EP! We recorded 4 tracks over the 3 days that we spent there. Going into the studio is always extremely exciting but can also be quite daunting and nervewracking beforehand when you are time restricted because there is so much that can go a bit tits up (excuse my french!) if we don't prepare entirely beforehand. Luckily enough, I had such a great team around me that everything went so smoothly and was a real pleasure! Everyone was so full of ideas which makes it so much easier to crack on with things and get some really special bits going on! I can't wait for you to hear what we did!

My first EP Medicine is going to be released on June 2nd 2013 and will shortly be followed by a video which I will be sure to post on here for you guys and gals! The second EP should be ready to be released a couple of months after so we are excited to hear the finished article! But in the meantime, here are a few snaps from our time at RAK Studios!
Stay cool, cats!
